Kotakaii Mountains

Main Land

Can be home to both users and characters.

The eastern most mountains

Located in the upper east coast of the mainland. Rough granite peaks run into a colder coastal lowland, with few settlements along the way. Plants and wildlife are few and far between, but the lands are rich in minerals and other resources. Kotakaii is known for harsh, cold winters, but remains pleasantly temperate the rest of the year. Major cities line the coast, with the rest of the region left to the wilds. The Kotakaii region has very close ties to the Atlosian regions, readily trading resources along the coastline. Fishing, hunting and mining are the major job offerings here. Cities here are older, constructed mostly of smooth stone bases, with pine wood roofs and accents. Smaller towns inland do not have access to electricity like the larger ones, and rely on lanterns and natural wood  fires to heat and light homes.

Kirunhounds: In the wild, native Kirunhounds live in much smaller packs, are generally smaller, stockier and have longer fur accents. Cold winters are not well tolerated by any Kirunhound who was not born here, short coated visitors tend to leave before the height of winter. In human society Kirunhounds tend to take up hunting and fishing jobs when younger, and move into shipping work as they age.

Popokee: Both wild and integrated Popokee prefer to congregate their pods closer to the coast line, or selectively settle in smaller mountain towns with local hot springs. Popokees that live here year round tend to be both smaller in design and are generally rounder and well padded, to protect against the bitter cold in winter. Popokee work in fishing jobs with great success rates, with older or less adapted Popokees working with boat repair and local coastal retail.

Local Wildlife: Dire wolf. Eagle. Stone drake. Raven. Ibex. Mountain goat. Yak. Walrus. Large ocean fish. Shellfish.

Real life places to look for inspiration: Open country and farm land in Scandinavia. Coastal cities in Nova Scotia. Mountains in Tibet.

Things to avoid: Kotakaii isn’t a barren, cold wasteland year round and during the summer months is in fact, quite warm and fertile! Don’t be afraid to draw some greenery, rolling fields of low grasses with wildflowers would fit right in, and foothills have both pine and old growth trees like maple and oaks.
