The Holiday Mutation Hunt

Limit: 2 submissions per character per year

Details

While the monthly ebb and flows bless some newly born creatures with unique traits, others strive to take on these traits on their own time frame. Hayyan and her team of aetheric scholars have found a path that could potentially imbue some creatures with this unique change outside it's normal heights.

By completing this series of test studies a character will be able to add a Monthly Mutation to their Import.

  • You can complete only a single step, or all five of them, but they need to be done in sequential order and contained in one Prompt submission. We recommend creating all art or stories as one combined submission when doing so. (If you submit a single prompt step on it's own, you use 1/2 of your yearly tries for this! If you want to do more than one step, do them all at once for the higher number steps.)
  • Each has a boost to how the Mutation will be handled and how successful it will be.
  • Be aware, Hayyan has warned this system will only effect some characters:
    • Characters with a Holiday Mutation already can not earn more even if they can use the Prompt.
    • Azoth born AND Alter characters can also not add Holiday Mutations, only Standard and Citizen characters are ready to take on Mutations!
    • If a character submits any level of this quest line and FAILS to get a Mutation on submission, they can retry the same steps with the same Creative Submissions, but can only do so twice per year.

Step 1

(20% chance of a random Mutation based on the character's creation date on the Stats Tab.)

First a creature looking to add mutations needs to study their physiology, Aether based alterations can be unpredictable at times, so knowing yourself intensely is the key to a safe start.

Draw or write about your character taking some time with the magic Scholars to take in all the tiny scientific details about a trait they have, showing off a glowing horn, or testing the heat sensitively of their tail. Once they study in depth, it's safe to move to the next stage.

Step 2

(60% chance of a random Mutation based on the character's creation date the on Stats Tab.)

Pairing the proper material along with these logs is the next stage, the Scholars will take what they learned and create a Tincture that aligns with your character's personal build and magic flow.

Draw or write about your character having to help make, or consume the needed Tincture.

  • This Prompt will require you attach 5 Rare gathering items.

Step 3

(40% chance of a completely random Holiday Mutation from all months.)

Going deeper, learning how you deal with day to day functions can help refine your magics in way that surface level study can't. While the Scholars study your interactions in a city, they can help refine your alignment.

Draw or write about your character showing off their social skills in a city in their Homeland, either doing a job, helping out or causing problems.

  • This prompt requires you also attach 2 Food plates.

Step 4

(80% chance of a completely random Holiday Mutation from all months.)

With all this new information it's time to take it out into the wilds where the Aether is the strongest. The Scholars have set up a small elemental shrine and ask your character to spend the night guarding it, this ensures their connection is perfectly in balance to a transfer of out of time Aether.

Draw or write about your character's night watching over this shrine, what elements show up, and how do they reach to having to keep it safe?

  • This prompt requires you  attach 5 Dyes.

Step 5

(99% , Player may pick which Mutation they want to add.) (1% chance a character will earn the Aetherbound Status, and gain a random marking instead.)

The final step after reporting their experiences to the staff, is to let them transfer Wild Aether and watch the outcome with baited breath.

Draw or write about your character getting ready for, or in the process of having their Aether transfer.

  • This prompt requires you  attach 1 Tincture and 1 + Quality Tincture.
